Featuring world-class musicians William Parker, Guillermo E Brown and Victor Gama, The Folk Songs Trio are one of the most exciting free improv trios working today. Exploring the fertile ground between free jazz, hip hop, traditional musics and modern electronica, the trio stages an improvisational performance combining the driving presence of William Parker (using a variety of bass and wind instruments) with Victor Gama's delicate melodies on his Pangeia Instrumentos and the disruptive, fragmented rhythms of Guillermo E Brown's electronic percussion, the Folk Songs Trio offer an exhilarating fusion of traditional and avant-garde sensibilities. more ...

Having played since 2005 in such venues as Tonic, (New York), Galapagos (Broklyn), they've toured Portugal in 2007, the Cinco Cidades Tour, in the some of the most important cultural centres in the country such as Culturgest (Lisbon), Serralves Foundation (Porto), Teatro Circo (Braga), TMG (Guarda) and Teatro-Cine (Torres Vedras). Their latest show was at the Glatt&Verkehrt Festival in Krems, Austria.
